Places to Visit in Turks & Caicos
As well as all the paradise beaches and cays there are some pockets that you must make time to visit. Island tours can be arranged with expert private guides. For exquisite turquoise waters, explore Chalk Sound National Park. This 5km long bay by Providenciales has several tiny islets and has some of the clearest blue water on the island. Journey to Salt Cay, a tiny island south of Grand Turk and try to spot the whales on their winter migratory route.
On Salt Cay and Grand Turk, the old-world charm of the classic Turks and Caicos can be experienced through the British Bermudian architecture of Cockburn Town, with its free-roaming donkeys and ruins left from the seal slat industry. North Caicos and Middle Caicos (known as the garden islands) offer many of the most interesting natural features in the country, they remain largely undeveloped and still reflect the old tropical way of life. The Crossing Place Trail on Middle Caicos is one of the finest hiking areas in the country, remember to back some sturdy shoes.
