The Farmhouse is warm and comfortable, home to a unique combination of Scandinavian and Scottish design
Just a two-hour drive north of Edinburgh is the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, home to wildlife, distilleries and castles in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Within the National Park lies Killiehuntly Farmhouse, a traditional stone building which dates all the way back to the year 1603.
Following a loving restoration, Killiehuntly now proudly displays a Danish interior décor accompanied by traditional Scottish touches - dubbed "Scandi-Scot". Think minimalist interiors, with a warm grey color scheme, wooden floors and cozy furnishings. Although Killiehuntly does not conform to the style of traditional Scottish Highland abodes, the farmhouse is comfortable, welcoming, and a real home away from home. The Farmhouse can be taken exclusively, and as such is the perfect location for a family getaway.
The four bedrooms at Killiehuntly Farmhouse are all individually styled, continuing the understated Scandinavian theme, and are simple yet extremely comfortable. With views over the surrounding fields or towards the Cairngorms, each room is a private haven, ideal for those looking to relax and really get away from it all. Killiehuntly is also home to a Hayloft, which is perfect for couples, and Geordie's Cottage which offers a secluded self-catering option for families.
Delicious home-cooked meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients are served at the dining table in the kitchen, while in the summer months it is possible to sit out in the garden with an after-dinner nightcap. There is also a library within the historic stone walls, which is the perfect place to relax with a good read.
The area surrounding Killiehuntly is bursting with natural beauty, and home to a variety of wildlife including deer, Highland cattle and even reindeer. From Killiehuntly it is easy to explore with a walk through the hills, and activities such as biking and fishing nearby can also be arranged.
