Positioned in Granite County under the John Long Mountains, The Ranch at Rock Creek is stunningly located in a vast expanse of mountains, meadows, lakes and streams. It is the ideal adventure playground for those wanting to breathe in the fresh air and don their cowboy hat and ride out into the sunset.
One important thing to note about The Ranch at Rock Creek, is that everything in included, from accommodation, meals, drinks and almost all the activities you do there. The staff are a real plus point – casual yet utterly attentive.
The Ranch is centered around the main Granite Lodge which features 9 guest rooms, the main dining room, Silver Dollar Saloon, Spa, and outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi. All the rooms in the lodge are different, perfectly blending the old world with the new. Dark woods complement the neutral furnishings with the odd dash of color and period features such as leather arm chairs. Down by the creek, the 8 Canvas Cabins are adorable – and you can either ‘glamp’ for 2, or as a family with larger Canvas Cabins. There are 11 private log homes & specialty suites set all around the Ranch offering the perfect option for larger parties.
The 50 horses at the Ranch offer great riding for all standards. There are scheduled rides leaving at about 9am and 1pm which take 2 hours. There are generally 4 riders per outing with 1 Wrangler looking after you. They even size you up for your own cowboy boots. Private rides are of course possible. A great route is to head to the ‘Top of the World’ where the views simply go on forever, passing the odd elk or bighorn sheep enroute! For those less experienced, you can have riding lessons. But riding is only one of countless activities you can accomplish at The Ranch at Rock Creek. The Creek is home to countless trout, and the fly fishing here is exceptional. Head to the pistol range and try your hand at skeet shooting, hikes, mountain biking, jeep tours, winter snowmobiling and cross country skiing & archery. You can even see their own rodeo which is put on in the summer months. Return to the lodge at night and head to the Saloon for smores over a crackling fire, ten-pin bowling, and their own in-house cinema.
There is nothing quite like getting up in the morning, leaving your Canvas Cabin and walking to the Granite Lodge with views that wake you up even before you smell the freshly brewed coffee and homemade pastries. The food from chef Josh Drage is quite exceptional – 4 course dinners paired with wines, and steaks are quite simply the best you could possibly imagine.
The Ranch also has a wonderful spa, with a range of treatments to soothe aching muscles after a long ride into the wilderness.
We really do think The Ranch at Rock Creek combines luxury and adventure perfectly – the chance to get out and explore by day, but return back at night to be pampered and indulged before you set out again the next day.
