Cape Cod: with 44,000 acres of white ocean beaches, green forests and pristine lakes, cute villages and lively arty towns, this enigmatic peninsula offers a dazzling array of activities from the relaxed and laid back beach life to action packed. The Wequassett Resort & Golf Club sits on 27 acres of gardens, salt marshes and woodlands near Chatham on the 'elbow' of Cape Cod overlooking the calm boat-filled waters of Pleasant Bay, with the Atlantic behind.

The Wequassett offers the facilities of a resort yet manages to seem personal and intimate at the same time. The resort is made up of 120 rooms, with a number of typical cottages from the region which gives it a timeless and residential feel.

The spacious suites or snug private cottages are designed to reflect the seashore presence of the Cape. The signature suites come with gas fireplaces, marble bathrooms and plenty of room for relaxing. All rooms at Wequassett offer a private deck or terrace for enjoying the outdoors. The garden view rooms are best suited for those that don't intend to spend much of their time in their rooms as they can overlook the gardens, or other residences and parking. In all rooms, you'll find Molton Brown bath amenities to add to the little indulgence.

The resort offers an array of activities during the summer season, including two swimming pools (one is an adult only lap pool) and four tennis courts, boat rentals and sailing lessons, cooking classes, water sports from kayaking to paddle boarding and movie nights as well as the daily program offered at the Children’s Center. The resort also has an old-fashioned penny candy store and the vintage-style Good Humor truck that drives around delivering frozen treats to guests.

At Twenty-eight Atlantic, you can have the Petite Clam Bake—butter-poached lobster, Gold potatoes, and corn pudding—while gazing at the bay through the eight-foot windows. Come cocktail hour, head to the Outer Bar and Grille for sunset views and a buzzy atmosphere. Sit by the granite fireplace or drink under the stars at Libaytion or by the fire-pit. There are also weekly clambakes and barbecues by the pool and for casual dining day and night the Outer Bar looks right over the hotel pool and bay.

Top tip:

The Wequassett hosts star gazing with a difference. An astronomer will 'explain the skies' while you sip martinis by the pool.
