The ship’s godmother is NASA scientist Dr Kathy Sullivan. One of NASA’s first female astronauts, Dr Sullivan personifies the innovative and adventurous spirit of the Scenic Eclipse II. The 20-strong Discovery Team of experts enrich each trip with their knowledge of the area’s history, culture, geology, environment, and wildlife. There is a fleet of Zodiac boats, e-bikes, and kayaks available for guided exploration and the ship boasts two helicopters and a purpose-built submarine for truly spectacular aerial and underwater perspectives of different destinations.
The ship takes a maximum of 228 guests (200 for polar expeditions) and has an almost 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio. The all-inclusive suite accommodation includes a butler service to ensure every request is fulfilled. Spacious, stylish, and elegantly furnished, the 114 suites have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening onto a terrace or veranda, allowing guests to appreciate the epic views. There’s even a pair of binoculars included for enhancing the viewing experience. Expect a separate sleeping and lounging area, and sleek ensuite bathroom, while standard amenities include premium linens, climate control, Starlink-powered Wi-Fi, HDTV and entertainment system, and minibar stocked with personal preferences.
Guests are spoiled for choice in terms of food and drink with a range of ambitious dining options. For casual day time dining visit the Yacht Club and Azure Café, while in the evenings head to either the Italian steakhouse or the Asian fusion for a relaxed vibe. For more formal dining, Lumiere offers French fine dining, or head to the Night Market which serves high-end Asian and Middle Eastern street food. There is also the invitation-only Chef’s Table serving up to 10 guests a creative 14 course tasting menu. Guests can also take a culinary masterclass at the Chef’s Garden @Épicure, learning how to make chocolate or enjoying a whisky tasting session.
Guests also benefit from a range of lounge and bar areas, chief of which is the Sky Bar on the Sky Deck, and there are six private cabanas from which to enjoy the views with a drink.
For onboard pampering the Senses Spa features a series of treatment rooms, saunas, steam room, plunge pools, and both a relaxation area and outdoor terrace. The steam room includes aromatherapy and an integrated ice fountain, and there is also a salt therapy lounge with heated beds.
