Start the day with a visit to the impressive Reims cathedral of Notre Dame, one of the oldest in the region and a true example of French Gothic architecture, famous for housing the coronation ceremonies of the kings of France.
From Reims your guide will drive you out through the lush landscapes and vineyards along the 'Champagne route', where many smaller champagne producers have their cellars. Your driver will point out interesting stops and viewpoints along the way and we can arrange a private visit and tasting with a local winemaker.
The route leads us to Epernay and the wine capital of Champagne, where many of the top names in the business are housed. Your experience will start with a walk along the famous 'Avenue de Champagne', admiring the town's distinct architecture and passing the recognisable houses before enjoying a tour and tasting at one of the biggest producers in the world - Moet & Chandon. Moet's cellars are located up to 30 metres below the chalky soil and are the longest within the Champagne region, a stark contrast to the family-run estates previously visited. Learn the art of winemaking before finishing the day with a tasting of the delicious Vintage or Rose blends and perhaps stock up on a bottle or two to take home for yourself!
