The ultimate family adventure!
Superb Ker & Downey guiding
Footsteps camp offers a traditional and adventurous safari experience in the Okavango Delta, focussing mainly on walking and low-impact activities. It is the base for four day walking safaris, as well as Ker & Downey's Young Explorers programme which offers families a really interactive and educational safari.
There are three simple but comfortable meru tents here, one of which can accommodate three people. Each has twin beds and private ensuite bathrooms with a bucket shower and a flush toilet.
Delicious home-cooked meals are prepared in the bush kitchen and served under the shade of a tree or near the campfire in the evenings.
Both lions and wild dogs are often seen in the area and the variety of plains game includes kudu, zebra, and impala. Depending on the flood level you'll be able to take a ride in a mokoro, in which you travel through the maze of channels winding their way through the papyrus and water lilies. Walking with your guide is a real highlight and an entirely different experience to sitting in the comfort and security of a safari vehicle.
The Young Explorers family programme is filled with educational and fun activities, from identifying paw prints to making bows and arrows, led by expertly trained guides who specialise in family safaris. There are activities to suit all ages, and even allow parents some peace and quiet while their youngsters are being entertained!
