Kanana Camp is set deep in the Okavango Delta amongst grassy islands, ebony and sausage trees, waterways and floodplains. The views here are spectacular, and the camp has been designed to accentuate and appreciate the beautiful location on the Xudum river, within the private concession.

A safari here is truly diverse, with a wide range of activities including game drives, night drives, walking safaris, boat safaris through the channels of the Delta, glass-bottomed mokoros and fishing from March until December.

The camp itself has a lovely dining and lounge area set on raised decking, built around an ancient fig tree. There's a swimming pool too, and a lovely fire pit area, where guests congregate before dinner.

There are eight tents here, a mix of doubles and twins as well as family tent. Children aged 7 years and older are welcome. Each tent has wooden floors and canvas walls, a balcony and chairs to the front and an ensuite bathroom to the back.

Besides good populations of elephant, a wide variety of other game frequent the life-giving force of the Delta, including impala, lechwe, hippo, crocodile and lion. Kanana Camp is one of the few lucky camps in the Okavango Delta to have an exclusive heronry where many migratory water birds come to hatch their young from July onwards. This is a very important nesting site for these birds and one of the few in the Delta. The species you are likely to see roosting here include the yellow bill stork, marabou, open bill stork, darters, cormorants and slate egrets. The camp also reports frequent sightings of the rare Pel's fishing owl. Even more rare are the situanga antelope, which live in swamps and are very good swimmers. They may take to the water to evade predators such as leopards or wild dogs, lying submerged in pools with only their nostrils above the surface.
