Botswana’s winter is May to October when the weather is hot during the day (not stiflingly hot) and cold at night. Botswana's summer months (November to April) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is warm and sunny year round with temperatures averaging 25° C in the winter months (May – August) and over 30° C in the summer months (December - March). Rain is possible from November to March, usually in short bursts. The sea temperature varies with the seasons and currents, and ranges between 22° C and 32° C.
Itinerary
Fly to Maun
Khwai Private Reserve, Okavango Delta and Moremi, Botswana
Flying overnight from London you’ll touch down in Johannesburg before boarding a flight to Maun. Feel your excitement build as you board your light aircraft and fly over the Okavango Delta, watching in astonishment at the waterways ahead of you. Landing at the airstrip, you’ll be met by your guide and game driven to Machaba Camp. This elegant bush camp occupies a beautiful spot in the Khwai Concession, overlooking the Khwai River. Your luxury tented room is hidden amongst thickets, offering you privacy and the feeling of being right in the heart of the bush. After enjoying a delicious lunch spread in the stylish dining tent, you’ll head out on your first game drive, meandering around waterways and passing lush vegetation, which is teeming with wildlife. The area is known for African wild dog and you may be lucky enough to encounter a pack of these highly intelligent canines.
During your time here, as well as game drives during the day you’ll be able to stay out after dark in the vehicle and keep a look out for the rare, elusive species; there is nothing quite like being in a leopard’s presence as she gazes out at you from the high branch of a tree. A mokoro (traditional wooden canoe) ride down the river is an experience not to be missed, as you really capture the essence of the Delta.
Chitabe Concession, Okavango Delta and Moremi, Botswana
This morning after a safari activity, you’ll catch a light aircraft flight and head south to Gomoti Plains Camp, located in a private concession. This elegant, eco-luxury camp is surrounded by towering palm trees and has a wild and pristine game viewing location, with a thriving population of plains game passing through camp. With an enviable location on the flood plain system, you can enjoy mokoro rides direct from Gomoti at the crack of dawn, listening to the chorus of birds songs as you float along the channel. During your time here you’ll be fully immersed in this private wilderness area, game driving for high chances of seeing the elusive leopard or wild dog, and plenty of opportunities to get up close to lions and elephants. You’ll also have the opportunity to access areas that vehicles cannot reach, as you venture out on a walking safari; nothing heightens your senses like walking through a remote area alive with wildlife. Evenings will be spent watching the spellbinding sunsets of Gomoti, with a glass of wine in hand.

Johannesburg, South Africa
After one last venture into the wild this morning, you’ll be flown back to Maun airport to connect to your flight to Johannesburg. You’ll be met off the plane by a representative and whisked through the airport to your private driver, who will transfer you to The Peech, a quirky and luxurious boutique hotel, ideal for a restful night before flying to Mozambique the following morning.
