Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

Day 1-4

Ubud

Your epic Indonesian journey begins the moment you touch down in Bali and your private driver whisks you off to charming hilltop town of Ubud, often referred to as the cultural heart of Bali. There’s something really special about this place, some say its spiritual, but whatever you believe in, the laidback vibe is seriously addictive. Ubud offers sensational scenery, think a photogenic sea of terraced rice paddies, jungle clad rolling hills, traditional communities with strong cultural roots and some of the island’s most luxurious accommodation.

Your hotel, the plush COMO Uma Ubud, is built to resemble a typical Indonesian village with a contemporary twist, nestled amongst tropical gardens on the outskirts of town, it offers a peaceful retreat with jaw-dropping views across the sweeping verdant valley. Saddle up at the poolside bar to enjoy one of their signature cocktails, where the romantically lit garden adds to the ambience. The hotel also prides itself on only using fresh local ingredients thus helping the local community and offering its guests an authentic gastronomic experience.

The centre of Ubud is an easy enough place to explore independently. As you amble around the village, visit art and craft markets and get a sense of what local Balinese life is really like. There are plenty of picturesque little temples to stop at, in-between getting something to eat and having a drink at the roadside cafes.

For unrivalled panoramic views over all of Bali and to watch the magical sunrise from above the clouds, it’s worth getting up early for the hike to the top of Mount Batur volcano. And for a more immersive experience we’ve also included a Balinese cooking class. Together with a guide you’ll delve deep into the local markets to source fresh ingredients before heading back to discover the secrets behind Indonesian cooking and putting your hands to work in the kitchen. Of course, you’ll get to feast on the delicious fruits of your labour!

Accommodation: COMO Uma Ubud ( 3 nights )
Day 4-7

Lombok, Indonesia

Today take the fast boat across to Lombok, an altogether quieter and sparser island, it is known as Bali’s little sister, yet offers visitors some of Indonesia’s best experiences. Lombok is downright blissful, home to the iconic Mount Rinjani volcano which dominates the island and the sun kissed Gili Islands, a marine paradise waiting to be explored with a snorkel and mask. There’s a lot to like about the place!

Home for the next few days is The Oberoi Lombok, situated on the island’s sun-drenched west coast and Lombok's most pristine beach. It offers peace and tranquillity coupled with easy access to the exotic coral reefs and tropical sea life of the Gili Islands. Elegantly designed villas and pavilions are a real feature, each blending traditional Indonesian architecture with modern comforts. Nestled amidst 24 acres of lush tropical gardens and overlooking the serene Medana Bay, the resort offers an idyllic sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. For those who are seeing something more adventurous; various water sports, surfing lessons, trekking, diving in the Gilis, sunset cruises and even golf are all catered for by the hotel.

Accommodation: The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok ( 3 nights )
Day 7-10

Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia

After relaxing and soaking up the diverse scenery of Lombok, you’ll return to Bali’s southern coast by boat where the fashionable and happening beach resort of Uluwatu will be your base for the remainder of your amazing holiday. Well-known for some of the best surf breaks in the world, the coast itself is home to perfect white sandy beaches flanked by jagged limestone cliffs. The area attracts a hip young crowd, with trendy waterfront hangout spots and bars vying for business. It’s a fun spot for people watching and to grab some lunch and an ice-cold beer, and once the sun has set the open-air terraces spring to life with performances from international DJs and live musicians.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Alila Villas Uluwatu is the area’s coolest and most visually stunning property. It really delivers on dramatic minimalist design with an unbelievable jaw-dropping setting, sexy stylish interiors and the island's most-photographed infinity pool, you’ll feel like an A-list celebrity the moment you arrive! Add into the mix a world-class spa, fancy gourmet dining and a personal butler service and you’ve got all the ingredients for an unforgettable end to your trip.

No trip to Bali is complete without a visit to the island’s most iconic temple, perched 70-metres high on the edge of a steep cliff, the Temple of Uluwatu offers mind-blowing views over the Indian Ocean. We’ve arranged a guided visit at sunset, not only for the vistas but also the unique opportunity to witness a tradition Kecak dance - a ritualistic dance sometimes involving up to one hundred participants, it’s a real spectacle!

Make the most of your final time here, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a final dip in the pool, before waving goodbye to the beach and travelling back to the airport to check in for your flight home.
