The spacious Japanese-style rooms offer the option for a private outdoor hot spring bath, while some enjoy spectacular views of the Japanese Alps. The superb Japanese cuisine is prepared from fresh local ingredients and the hot spring baths are fed from the famous Asama Hot Spring, which was once popular with the feudal lords that used to live in Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto has long been a city of music and in light of this the ryokan holds nightly concerts for guests to enjoy.
There is a total of 26 rooms, 15 of which include a private outdoor hot spring bath and one which includes a sauna. Each room is beautifully and tastefully-furnished with tatami mats, low furniture, fusuma sliding doors and stunning artwork. Standard amenities include Wi-Fi, TV, en-suite bathroom with yukata linen robes, wrapping cloth for carrying personal items, luxury mattress, safe, air purifier, fridge, kettle and hair dryer. All food served is Japanese, beautifully-presented and created using fresh local ingredients. The traditional multi-course kaiseki dining is a wonderful indulgence (room rates are on a half-board basis).
Guests can relax in one of the eight indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, before relaxing in the Yuagari Lounge with a cool drink. Massages are available on request. Each evening guests can enjoy a classical or jazz music concert held in the large lobby. This huge space enjoys excellent acoustics and during the concert regional wines and snacks are available from the Shinsu Wine Bar.
