Hoshinoya Karuizawa is a relaxing hot spring resort of individual pavilions located at the foot of a mountain, where guests can immerse themselves in the glorious natural beauty of Karuizawa. Guest pavilions are dotted throughout the resort amid the lush greenery of the surrounding forest, with a river meandering through the centre. Fusing Japanese-style architecture and contemporary design, the pavilions provide stylish and comfortable accommodation and are positioned to offer the maximum level of privacy. There is an onsite restaurant, excellent childcare facilities, hot spring bathing including a Meditation Bath and a massage spa.
There are 77 self-contained pavilions designed to blend into the beauty of their surroundings. Standard amenities include Wi-Fi, fridge and safe. Mizunami pavilions offer a riverside setting with a lovely terrace for relaxing; Yamaroji pavilions are located high in the forest with some offering panoramic views and Niwaroji villa-style pavilions offer more space and are perfect for families. Kasuke the onsite restaurant serves ‘alpine kaiseki,’ a form of traditional Japanese multi-course dining, incorporating river fish, game and seasonal vegetables. The restaurant can offer in-room children’s meals or a bento box for children in the main dining room. The resort is particularly family-friendly and there is a Children’s Room offering childcare to those between four months and nine years old.There are two choices for hot spring bathing: the resort’s own Meditation Bath or the Tombo-no-yu indoor and outdoor spring baths, five minutes from the resort, which guests have exclusive use of during the morning. For added relaxation, there is also a massage spa.
