Toliara & Ifaty
Ifaty on the south west coast of Madagascar offers the perfect chance to combine wildlife viewing with time on the beach. Offshore there is a coral reef to explore whilst on land the famous spiny forest which includes around 1,000 of the iconic baobab trees and is home to a variety of bird species. After exploring the fauna and flora, relax on the beach and take in local life.
Ifaty is a fishing village just north of Tulear on the south west coast of Madagascar, but offers plenty more than just the chance to relax on the lovely beach. There is excellent snorkelling and scuba diving on offer with the Massif des Roses coral reef just offshore which is protected by the Ranobe Marine Reserve and between July and October it is also possible to go on whale-watching trips. Alternatively take to the seas with a local fisherman in their traditional pirogue fishing boat, offering a unique insight into their way of life.
