Explore Campeche
Stay in the walled city of Campeche or visit for the day and explore its intriguing and colourful streets and the stories and history they hold.
Campeche is a fascinating city with much to offer visitors and many tales of pirates and Mayan heritage. The colourful houses of 59th street are synonymous with Campeche and is a beautiful route to take to the main square of the city. From the central plaza tram tours can be embarked upon, at night guides dress in traditional costumes for an extra-special journey. Right on the square itself is Centro Cultural Casa 6 which is a 16th century house open to the public for visitors to explore and surrounding the city are various forts begging to be visited. The forts and the main wall itself were originally built to protect the city from pirates however some are now museums such as the Museo de Arqueologia Maya in the San Miguel fort which contains rooms full of Mayan artefacts.
