Mayan for "where the sky is born", Sian Ka'an is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean. The reserve is made up of a variety of ecosystems including forests, savannas and a portion of the second longest Barrier Reef in the world, measuring 110 km in length, called the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, along with 23 small registered archaeological sites.
Please note: Sian Ka'an is protected and so sun cream is not allowed if opting to swim. We recommend wearing long sleeves to avoid too much sun exposure.
