Mobile Camping Safaris in Damaraland and Kunene begin at a lodge in Northern Damaraland and can encompass a huge variety of destinations within the region - you have the freedom to explore wherever you may choose!
Mobile Camping Safaris in Damaraland and Kunene take you off the beaten track in to Southern Africa's most remote corners. These wild and remote regions offer incredible wildlife, impressive scenery, and fascinating cultural interactions.
Revel in the remoteness of Damaraland's vast landscapes, get away from civilisation where you won't see another soul for days.
Set your own agenda with your expert private guide and vehicle, who will bring the barren vistas to life.
Fall into the infinite and escape to another world in the extraordinary stark beauty of Damaraland, where remote mountains sweep to ephemeral rivers.
Seek the elusive desert wildlife that roams Damaraland, track rhinos across the plains and spot elephants in the shimmering distance as they graze along the riverine trees.
No fences, no tourists, no lodges...just pure African wilderness!
Our mobile camping safaris can begin at any camp or lodge in Damaraland. You are met by a driver/guide, private customised 4x4 safari vehicle, and camp hand before you strike out in to wild Africa.
Itineraries are completely flexible - Damaraland and Kunene are your oyster! Breath-taking mountainous areas of Palmwag and Etendeka offer superb wildlife, including springbok, oryx, kudu, ostrich, zebra, jackal, hyena, giraffe, lion, elephant, rhino and cheetah!
Traverse valleys and dry river beds, explore natural springs and stake-out water holes in remote valleys. The day ends with camp being set-up by your driver/guide and camp hand, drinks around the camp fire and a hearty meal cooked over the barbecue.
Millions of years of tectonic activity have created natural springs forced to the surface by beds of basalt and granite - these springs are lifelines for the wildlife and vegetation in an otherwise arid and harsh environment. Boulder-strewn volcanic fields with stark green euphorbia trees offer a huge contract to the palm-fringed river beds of Purros and the dunes and oases of Hoanib and Hartmann's Valley.
We recommend exploring the Hunkab Springs, Hoanib River, Hoarusib River, and Purros. You'll be following the eastern boundary of the Skeleton Coast National Park, meeting the Himba Tribe and learning about the fascinating geography of the region. If you have time, continue on to the Kunene River bordering Angola!
