A stay at the Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is Swedish Lapland’s ultimate wilderness experience. The exclusive-use lodge sits on the banks of Lake Väkkärä, 200km north of the Arctic Circle, offering a private and luxurious environment from which to enjoy this glorious icy landscape.
A thrilling one-hour scenic dog sled ride is the only way to access the lodge
Cosy up in soft reindeer hides in front of the woodburning stoves
Sip a glass of champagne in an outdoor private hot tub under the Northern Lights
Enjoy a range of winter snow activities and catch your own tea with a spot of ice fishing
For over 300 years, nine generations of the Fjellborg family have lived in Swedish Lapland and their expertise and knowledge of the region is second to none. Your Arctic adventure begins before you even arrive at the lodge, as the only way to get there is via a one-hour scenic dog-sled ride. Whether you take the reins or ride as a passenger, the experience is exhilarating and sets the scene for your stay.
Inside, the lodge has an authentic arctic log cabin feel, with soft reindeer hides, cosy woodburning stoves, honey-coloured wood, antique skis, and antlers, along with a lakeside sauna, the ideal place to relax after a day of arctic activities. The ground floor features a large living area, with three bedrooms and a sauna overlooking the lake, while the master bedroom can be found upstairs. Outside, there is a private hot tub, where you may even get to toast the Northern Lights with a glass of champagne.
Stays are all-inclusive and food is sourced from Lapland’s local produce including fish, game, vegetables, and berries. Guests can choose to dine in either the lodge or by candlelight in the Main Lodge, where there is also a lounge. For those that land a catch while ice fishing, the chef is happy to cook up your spoils on your return. All activities are privately guided and the Fjellborg family have 25 years’ experience arranging outdoor expeditions. Thrill seekers can enjoy dog sled rides and snowmobiling across the frozen tundra or for more leisurely pursuits, there’s snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice sculpting and the opportunity to meet traditional Sami tribes. You can even learn how to mush with a team of huskies.
