Located in the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve of Belize, Gaia River Lodge is a simple but tasteful retreat perched on the edge of a valley and overlooking the spectacular Five Sisters waterfalls. The lodge offers a choice of 16 well-appointed private cabanas ranging in size and location. With designs that make use of Belizean tropical hardwoods, traditional thatched roofs and varnished mahogany interiors, each cabana is fully screened for comfort, and features panoramic windows or a private veranda with hammock, ceiling fans, a bathroom decorated with hand-painted Mexican tiles, beds with pillow top mattresses and top-quality linens.

Gaia River Lodge provides the perfect base from which to explore Belize’s natural wonders. With wonderful views of both the falls and the surrounding jungle forest reserve, the lodge invites you to sit back, breathe deep, and relax to the sound of cascading water. The treetops are alive with bird activity, and bird watchers will love spotting species unique to this habitat such as the acorn woodpecker as well as regular visitors such as orioles, oropendolas, and kites.

There are plenty of activities to excite, from experiencing to some of Belize’s most important Mayan ruins, including Caracol and Xunantunich, hiking or biking along the many trails that wind throughout the surrounding Pine Forest Reserve, and horseback riding through the jungle to visit many of the area’s Mayan plazas and caves. The adventures continue with canoeing, zip-lining, cave tubing and rappelling, or boating along the local river. You can also swim in the clear waters of the river just a stone's throw away from your cabana, or relax in the sun on a tiny river-island retreat.

After a day of adventure, relax in a romantic atmosphere in a lamp-lit dining room and enjoy delicious local Belizean dishes and international cuisine prepared by our skilled chefs using locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as seafood from the nearby Caribbean Sea. The lodge restaurant is situated directly above the falls, and offers incredible views, especially from the wrap-around verandah, perfect for a spot of morning bird watching or a sun-downer cocktail.

Make your way down the 300 steps to the riverfront and swim in the naturual pools they'll beat any swimming pool! And if you don't fancy the steps on the way back up theres a tram to save you working up a sweat.
