With a maximum of just four luxurious tents, Selinda Explorers Camp takes mobile safari in this area of Botswana to a new level. The Selinda Spillway, dry for many years, started to flow again in 2009 - at first just a trickle, but now the spillway is a wide ribbon of water, snaking through the game-rich plains and bush of the Selinda Reserve.
Selinda Explorers Camp provides exclusive accommodation for up to eight guests. In the company of your world-class guide you'll explore on foot or by canoe or vehicle along the banks of the spillway. You can bring your own private guide if you so wish. At opening in August 2012, Selinda Explorers operated on an exclusive-use, private basis. However, the popularity of the experience with couples has pushed Great Plains Conservation to offer each of the four tents on an individual basis. Now you can either have the camp to yourself, friends and family, or join other discerning visitors to this remarkable area and share the experience.
The camp boasts many comforts, but retains the style and atmosphere of the early explorers, with a bush elegance and a relaxed bohemian style throughout. You'll even find brass hip-baths which can be taken to a nearby sand bank along the spillway for a unique 'bathing-in-the-bush' experience.
Head out early in the morning with your guide to canoe down the spillway before returning to a delicious brunch prepared by the camp's chefs over a camp fire. The Selinda Explorers camp makes the perfect beginning or end to a wonderful Botswana vacation.
