Built by Alexander the great in 331BC, Alexandria is one of the most significant cities of the ancient world. Soak in the Mediterranean vibe of Alexandria as you traverse across its key sights. Marvel at the Citadel of Qaitbay, positioned at the Eastern harbor which was once the location of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. The triple level funerary complex of Catacombs of Kom el-Shouqafa is the largest Roman cemetry in Egypt, descending 35m underground with the adjacant Tigran Tomb. The nearby Pompey's Pillar, which towers 25m above the garden surrounded by excavation relics, are as mesmerizing.
Make a visit to Royal Jewelry Museum, housing collection of jewels of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty in the former palace of Princess Fatma Al-Zahra. Time-permitting, you can visit the Roman Ampitheater of Kom El Dekka.
