Amanohashidate Hotel
  • Take in the glorious views of the Amanohashidate ‘bridge in heaven’ Sandbar, one of Japan’s most scenic vistas.

  • Check-in to a room with private open-air hot spring bath, for a soak with a panoramic view.

  • Savor well-presented and flavoursome Japanese cuisine created from fresh seasonal produce.

  • Ideally located opposite Ama-no-Hashidate Station, the hotel is 2-hours by train from Kyoto and 2-hours 20-minutes from Osaka.

With spectacular views of the surrounding scenery, the Amanohashidate Hotel makes a good base for exploring one of Japan’s most picturesque sights, the Amanohashidate Sandbar. Located opposite the Ama-no-Hashidate Station, the property overlooks the pine covered sandbar that spans the mouth of Miyazu Bay in the northern Kyoto Prefecture. Amanohashidate translates to ‘bridge in heaven,’ and viewed from either end of the bay appears as a path linking heaven and earth.

Infused with a soothing Japanese calm, the interiors combine a neutral palette with modern and comfortable furnishings. The main attraction here is the view and large picture windows ensure it is always on display. The 52 guest rooms offer a choice of Western, Japanese or a Japanese/Western combination and 48 have sea views. Three of the fusion-styled rooms and four Japanese-styled rooms include a private open-air bath. Amenities include climate control, Wi-Fi, TV, fridge, kettle, tea set, safety deposit box and ensuite bathroom with bathing products, hair dryer and yukata cotton kimono robes.

The hotel, which has English speaking staff, serves accomplished Japanese cuisine based on seasonal produce and beautifully presented kaiseki (multi-course) dining. During the winter months of November to March, crab is a specialty.

The hotel offers guests a choice of 13 separate communal hot spring baths, and the outdoor baths boast wonderful views across to Amanohashidate.

Along with visiting the Amanohashidate Sandbar, the hotel is well-placed for exploring the area. Chionji Temple (Monjudo), the Rotating Bridge, and the pier for sightseeing boat trips are a 5-minute walk away. Amanohashidate is 2-hours by train or bus from Kyoto and 2-hours 20-minutes by train from Osaka.
