Harking back to the Golden Age of Merida's sisal barons, Casa Lecanda is a former Yucatan home that has been restored with painstaking attention to its original architecture, landscaping and period detail to create a haven of serenity and relaxation in the busy city.
Step off the street into the cool lobby, and instantly you are transported into a world of grand colonial style with chequered tiles, red walls and antique furniture. Inside, amply dimensioned patios and courtyards provide a restful retreat, and the pool, while more for display than an ideal place to swim, serves as the focal point of the property, and sits beside a patio of suspended hammocks.
Each of Casa Lecanda's seven rooms is individually decorated, and have been fitted with the modern amenities while holding to the original philosophy of hospitality. Beds come with huge white duvets and spacious bathrooms with glass-enclosed rainfall showers are standard. The two rooms on the top floor have private balconies, the perfect spot to drink your welcome tamarind margarita
Casa Lecanda makes a perfect bolthole to retreat to after a hot day out and about exploring Mayan ruins. Please note that children of 12 and older are welcome.
