The best time to visit is typically during the drier, slightly milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins in the south around June and runs until November. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. The Caribbean coast can be affected by the hurricane season, which officially is from June to November but the wettest months we recommend avoiding are September and October.

Begin with two nights in the vibrant metropolis of Mexico City with its intriguing museums, parks, old-school cantinas and fine-dining restaurants, all within easy striking distance of the pyramids of Teotihuacan or the floating gardens of Xochimilco. Stay in a hotel within walking distance of Chapultepec Park and the fascinating museum of Anthropology, which is home to iconic Aztec calendar. Explore the city with a private guide and head out to the temples of Teotihuacan, soaring above the ruins on an unforgettable hot-air balloon ride.

Merida, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
Next stop is the capital of the Yucatan state, Merida, a charming city which comes to life as the sun begins to set in the evening, with nightly entertainment, live music and dance shows galore. Explore this city with its elegant colonial mansions and discover its rich history as you explore with a private guide. Merida is also within easy reach of the ruins of Uxmal and Kabah which both demonstrate unique and intricate examples of architecture and design dating back to the days of the Mayans. An archaeologist guide will show you around and give you an insight into life during the Maya times. Stay for three nights at meticulously restored Yucatan home that harks back to the Golden Age of Merida's sisal barons.
