Kayaking with Seals

The Lagoon at Walvis Bay offers a marine haven for birds and marine creatures. A morning kayak safari, when the water is calm is one of the best ways to observe the Cape fur seal colonies & flamingos. Dolphins and pelicans are also regularly spotted.

The calm flat waters of the lagoon surrounding the famous Pelican Point Lighthouse near Walvis Bay offer a rare chance to explore the world of Namibia's marine wildlife. With dolphins, flamingos, pelicans and thousands of seals making their home here an early morning kayak offers a fantastic day out for couples and families alike and is not to be missed.

Your day starts early to take advantage of the calm water and a chance to watch the seals start the day. These gentle mammals fish the length of the Namibian coast and are famously curious, loving nothing more than to show off leaping out of the water and darting below your kayaking. With very little current in the Lagoon and a choice of one or two man kayaks perfect for families you can enjoy a leisurely morning floating on the shallow water the seals prefer. For the slightly more adventurous there is also the option of kayaking into the mouth of the lagoon in search of the three different types of dolphins found there.

With such a mass of sea life, flocks of flamingos and pelicans it is an action packed adventure and is a great way to spend a day on the Skeleton Coast.
