Re-opened in March 2018 after a long closure and full redevelopment, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island offers couples and families a luxurious island hideaway. Located in the Amirantes group of islands in the Seychelles, Desroches is 6km long and 1.5km wide. A Coralline island as opposed to Granitic, Desroches lies flat, edged by 14 kilometers of soft white sand protected by a coral reef, rich in colourful marine life and amongst the top 15 fishing and diving destinations worldwide. This island is truly any outdoor enthusiast and nature lover's dream, and guests are free to explore the island's untouched beauty, and fascinating flora and fauna.
The Four Seasons is the only resort occupying the island, with luxurious accommodation offering complete privacy and seclusion. The 71 Beach Villas, Suites and larger Residences are spacious and designed with a laid-back island style featuring bold patterned textiles, natural wood and vintage collectibles from the era of explorers. They blend seamlessly into the exotic island vegetation and all have private pools and direct access to the beach.
The resort has four distinct venues to drink and dine. Open all day, Claudine is the main restaurant serving Mediterranean Riviera inspired cuisine and in the evening guests can also opt to dine at The Lighthouse, an iconic building with a large outdoor terrace offering freshly grilled seafood with panoramic ocean views. Not to restrict guests to dining within a set venue, The Deli prepares fresh picnic lunch baskets to be enjoyed while exploring the island on foot, bicycle or buggy.
There are many places to discover on Desroches Island and with 14 kilometers of beach, guests will never struggle to find a secluded spot down one of the many secret tracks. Take a kayak for the day and explore the coastline from the water, or jump on a bike and cycle around the island, the possibilities for exploration are endless. Don't miss a visit to the Tortoise Sanctuary, where the Aldabra giant tortoises which are threatened by extinction are carefully cared for, and if nature is your passion learn even more about the island's vegetation and marine life at the interactive Discovery Center. There is also a local village on the island with a population of about 100, some of which are craftspeople with a workshop you are welcome to visit.
Desroches offers some of the best opportunities for diving in the Seychelles, with 15 classified dive sites offering exciting attractions such as tunnels and deep caves, as well as world-class offshore angling possibilities with deep sea fishing, fly fishing, bottom fishing and trawling available. The coral barrier surrounding the island creates the perfect conditions for swimming, snorkeling and water sports such as paddleboarding and windsurfing, all available from the Castaway Center. Alternatively, guests can simply enjoy a massage at the spa, or participate in an anti-gravity yoga class in the dedicated pavilion.
Desroches is a tiny dot of desert island gorgeousness but most certainly manages to fit in a whole lot of wow factor.
