Franschhoek, The Winelands, South Africa
  • Perfectly located in the heart of Franschhoek allowing you to easily explore the fantastic restaurants and shops available.

  • With a large heated pool in the gardens and a lovely restaurant you can easily spend a day relaxing looking out over the impressive mountains.

  • Have a complimentary transfer to nearby Leeu Estates to use their gym, wine studio and famous restaurants a mere 15 minutes away.

  • Take a bicycle to explore the quiet Franschhoek streets, with a few wines along the way.

Leeu House is a stylish and luxurious small hotel in a central location in the Cape Winelands town of Franschhoek. There are just twelve rooms, each classic in their design but with plenty of mod con's including underfloor heating in the bathroom, Nespresso coffee machine and complimentary mini bar. A traditional Cape Dutch farm building is the focal point of the hotel, with pretty gardens and artwork including two striking bronzes featuring Gandhi and Mandela on the front lawn. The location on the main street in Franschhoek means you're a short stroll away from charming shops, cafes, art galleries and restaurants.

Dining is of course a real highlight here, as with much of this region of South Africa. Executive chef Oliver Cattermole creates innovative dishes using the best in local organic and ethically farmed produce, served in the Conservatory or out on the terrace. Meals are accompanied by a selection of fine South African wines including the estate's vintages. For more casual fare, head to the next door Tuk Tuk craft brewery for snacks and local brews, or further down the road to the sister property Le Quartier Francais to the renowned Tasting Room restaurant for more fine dining.

There are pretty gardens and a heated swimming pool where you can relax when not out exploring the town or nearby wine estates. Guests at Leeu House can also enjoy the facilities at sister property Leeu Estates on the edge of town, where you'll find more dining options, a beautiful spa, gym facilities and the Mullineux & Leeu wine tasting room, all set amongst beautiful landscaped gardens with bronze sculptures.
