The 4* Cervo Mountain Resort overlooks the village and is a lovely spot to take in the delights of Zermatt with hiking trails starting at its doorstep.
The hotel has five separate chalets of between five to 11 rooms, each with their own spa. The chalets can be taken separately or as a whole. For privacy and exclusivity, the Cervo's Owners Lodge is a cozy retreat sleeping up to six people, and is ideal for special occasions or family groups, where meals can be taken either in the chalet or in the restaurant. With panoramic windows, a private terrace with views of the Matterhorn and an outdoor whirlpool, it's one of Zermatt's secret gems.
The central chalet is the hub of the hotel with a buzzing bar and lounge, lit by candles,and great for socializing after a fulfilling day in the mountains. The Cervo Puro restaurant serves contemporary Alpine cuisine with a Northern Italian influence and is ideal to relax over a long lunch on the sunny terrace with fabulous views of the Matterhorn. Alternatively the Ferdinand restaurant is a real treat for cheese lovers with specialities including fondue, raclette and a table barbecue.
The rooms are contemporary and all have a balcony and view of the Matterhorn. Junior Suites have a separate lounge, and the Master Suites also have a dining area and kitchenette. Each chalet enjoys a separate spa area with a relaxation room, steam room, sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi and massage room.
The Cervo enjoys a convenient location in the resort, with its own lift linking to the entrance of the Sunnegga funicular. Lying at an altitude of 1620 meters and at the foot of the world-renowned Matterhorn the resort is surrounded by an additional 38 majestic peaks. Due to its southerly location, Zermatt shares part of its border with Italy and thus enjoys a mild climate with extended periods of sunshine. Although a beautiful and internationally renowned spot with numerous hotels, restaurants, bars and elegant shops, Zermatt has never lost any of its village charm and both in summer and winter remains an ideal spot for an active, refreshing or relaxing vacation.
When to visit
The sun terrace has a great view of the Matterhorn and is an ideal spot to enjoy a pre dinner drink in the early evening, warmed by the last rays of sunshine.
