Murchison Falls

One of Uganda’s oldest conservation areas, founded in 1926, Murchison Falls National Park is a large area with a wealth of wildlife. The range of habitats, from the grassland north of the river to the dense woodland to the south, allows for a diverse ecozystem, including elephant, giraffe, leopard, hippo and over 460 species of bird – this is one of the few places to spot the elusive shoebill! Chimp trekking is also possible at nearby Budongo Forest. Marvel at the sight of Murchison Falls, where the mighty force of the Nile is pushed through a gap just 8 meters wide, and venture out onto the river for a truly special boat safari.
