The onsite restaurant is one of the best in Uruguay and exactly what you'd expect from a Relais & Chateaux property
Built on the grounds of an award winning winery, this nineteenth century finca has been transformed into a charming boutique hotel which offers an escape from Uruguay's bustling cities. Surrounded by vineyards, this is a perfect spot in which to enjoy a glass of local wine in utter tranquillity, just 10km from Carmelo.
Food is a huge highlight of a stay at this Relais & Chateaux property, and is served either inside in a romantic candlelit restaurant or out on the terrace with views over the vineyard. The unique menu is mostly defined by time-honored recipes, many of which incorporate local produce and can all be accompanied with wine from the property's own vineyards.
Each of the five guestrooms takes its name from a different grape varietal, and as such is uniquely decorated to reflect this. Three of the rooms overlook the winery while the other two look out over the vineyards. Accommodation is simple but tastefully done and provides enough home comforts for a relaxing stay, including a private terrace - the ideal place to sit with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and some cheese (produced on property, of course). The staff are charming and attentive, the common areas and lounges comfortable and the whole experience a lovely way to end a trip.
