Woodstock is home to outstanding Revival homes and public buildings surrounding the green, the Ottauquechee River and rolling verdant hills. The Woodstock Inn is a comfortable 142 room country hotel located in the heart of Woodstock where you can wander out and explore Main Street, with its local restaurants, cafes and boutique shops.
Blending old and new, Woodstock Inn was once owned by Lawrence and Mary Rockefeller before being turned into a hotel. With white picket fences and old-school elegance, Woodstock is an ideal retreat. The pick of the rooms are the Tavern Wing Fireplace Rooms, offering natural wood burning fireplaces to snuggle up to during the colder months. The Porch Rooms offer a private enclosed porch overlooking the courtyard. All rooms have marble bathrooms, 600-thread count cotton sheets, down comforters and neutral colors complimenting the wood-beam bed frames and country-chic feel. There is a dash of modernity with their iPod docking stations, digital radios and flat screen TVs.
With an emphasis on locally sourced produce, Woodstock’s dining options are varied from the traditional to the more sophisticated. The Red Rooster is the main restaurant and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Richardson’s Tavern is ideal for a light snack and a drink. At the golf course there is the Fairway Grille which is ideal for a post-round lunch.
The hotel has a 10,000 square foot spa featuring 10 treatment rooms and a wide range of treatments. It is advised that you pre-book spa treatments before arrival.
The hotel has an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course in Kedron Valley, offering a true test for even a seasoned golfer. Although relatively short at 6052 off the back tees, the course contains some challenging shots over water. You cross Kedron Brook 12 times during your round, and locals always say it loves to eat golf balls.
For families, why not explore Billings Farm & Museum which takes you back into Vermont’s rural heritage. Other activities outside of the hotel can include walks, bike rides, kayaking and fly fishing. In the winter, you might wish to try out some skiing at Suicide Six, Nordic Skiing or dog sledding.
When to visit
Even if not a golfer, take a complimentary shuttle to their course to enjoy an al fresco lunch on the golf club's terrace - absolutely beautiful setting with stunning views!
