North Luangwa National Park
Part of the Luangwa Valley, North Luangwa National Park lies within the escarpment and offers a more diverse range of habitats than the South Luangwa. Often described as a hidden gem, the North Luangwa is a great park for a diverse range of birdlife and mammals. A true wilderness in the sense that the park is often only explored on foot.
Perhaps the most important feature of this park is the Mwaleshi River, this permanent river flows even in the heat of the dry season and provides life for the park. Wild and untouched, the park is not open to the public and has very few options to stay.
