Food, Culture & Cycling Tour
Combine a private walking food and culture tour of the beautifully preserved old town of Takayama with a cycle ride through the scenic paddy fields, carp-filled streams, and past the traditional wooden sake breweries of Hida.
Explore the atmospheric riverside town of Takayama with its winding streets, 16th century Edo period architecture, traditional wooden houses, craft shops and galleries, accompanied by your knowledgeable English-speaking guide. During the walk, you’ll be introduced to popular local food and drink, such as Hida beef, sticky rice cakes on skewers and locally produced sake. After a satisfying lunch, you’ll take a short 15-minute taxi ride to the small town of Hida Furukawa, north of Takayama. From here you set off on a guided cycle tour of Hida’s stunning countryside, taking a relaxing ride past farming villages and paddy fields, while your guide gives you an insight into local daily life. This is a lovely way to experience the scenery and learn more about Japanese history and culture. At the end of the ride, you will be transferred back to Takayama.
