Half Day Cycling Tour of Luang Prabang
Take to two wheels to explore the delightful Luang Prabang. Explore cultural highlights including the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre, Royal Palace and two of town’s most impressive temples; Wat Mai and Wat Xieng Thong.
Laos is home to a number of diverse ethnic minorities. At the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre you can learn about the different tribes, including displays of colourful costumes and traditional tools. Continue to the former Royal Palace, which is now the National Museum. Built in 1904, the historic residential quarters have remained virtually unchanged since the Royal Family were removed from power in 1975. Close to the Royal Palace is the temple of Wat Mai, where you can admire an opulent bas relief which has been covered with gold. You will also visit the revered Wat Visoun, which has an unusual shape and is home to a large collection of religious artifacts.
Pedal onwards through the quieter backstreets, catching a glimpse of local life as you go. Cycle along the banks of the Nam Khan River, taking in the picturesque scenery and peaceful atmosphere. You final stop of the day will be at Wat Xieng Thong. This much-revered temple is one of the oldest in Laos, and is home to beautiful mosaics and intricate carvings.
This tour can be done in the morning or afternoon, and lasts approximately six hours. Please note that the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre is closed on Mondays.
