Start your tour at the Royal Palace, which was built in 1904. The Laos Royal Family lived here until 1975, and the former residential quarters have remained virtually untouched since this time, offering a fascinating insight into the past. From the palace, take a short walk to the nearby Wat Mai, which is famous for its lavish gold-covered bas relief.
Continue to wind your way through downtown Luang Prabang before reaching Wat Sensoukarahm. This Thai-style temple is one of the most beautiful in Luang Prabang, with an opulent red and gold exterior. You will also visit Wat Xieng Thong, which is one of the oldest temples in the country, with wonderfully intricate carvings and mosaics.
This tour can be done in the morning or afternoon, and will last approximately four hours.
