Tucked away in the remote southern sector of the spectacular Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s Camp may well be the best kept secret for travellers seeking a real, intense bush experience. Famous for large elephant herds and baobab trees, Tarangire offers these and much more: lion, cheetah and leopard compete for a wide range of mammals to be seen – all complimented by the most prolific birdlife.
Oliver’s Camp offers a variety of ways to venture into the wilderness: walking safaris and night game drives inside the park, plus fly camping. All of which are excellent ways to truly immerse oneself in Tarangire, a park rich in wildlife and light on human traffic.
Oliver’s Camp is found in what is no doubt the most spectacular location in the park close to the animal dense Silale Swamps. Overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools, part of the Tarangire River, the camp has a spectacular view and easy access to a dense concentration of wildlife. Consisting of only ten beautifully appointed, spacious tents, intimacy is ensured. A world-class team of staff completes an experience that guests consistently rank amongst their best, and most inspiring of all time.
Oliver's sister camp Little Oliver’s is about 1 km from the main camp - has five tents with its own lounge and dining area. A fabulous team of staff completes the experience.
When to visit
Between mid June and October, the largest congregation of elephant on earth, as many as 4000, are drawn into the Tarangire, to the great sand rivers, and forced into migratory mode by the long seasonal dry season.
