Pata Lodge

Relish the opportunity to stay within one of Patagonia’s most ambitious sustainability projects, set within a landscape of untamed natural beauty, lush organic plantations, snow-capped peaks, pristine forest, and the brilliant turquoise waters of the mighty Futaleufú River. Pata Lodge is located on a 252-acre working farm, Fundo Las Escalas, in the Carretera Austral region of northern Patagonia, which boasts sustainable farming techniques, both reforestation and rewilding programs, along with several ‘smart’ eco villages, designed to be self-sustaining. Proud to operate ‘off the grid,’ the farm uses local labor and materials, produces its own energy, has a water treatment system, and has a recycling and composting policy.

The property’s five private cabins and communal Quincho Lodge, overlook Lononao Lake, backed by the majestic Andes and surrounding forests, while the Futaleufú River (the world’s cleanest and bluest river) runs alongside the farm, creating a stretch of pebble beaches. Set within the fields and forest, the cabins range in size from one to three-bedrooms and sleep between four and six guests. Each boasts a wood-burning stove, warm woodwork, custom furnishings, crisp linens, safety deposit box, biodegradable organic amenities, organic tea, hairdryer, and a relaxed and stylish vibe. The larger cabins include a lounge and kitchen. Communal areas include a hot tub, yoga, meditation, and Pilates shala, small cinema, and river beaches. The site also has a restaurant, greenhouse, sheep farm, honey farm, apple trees, extensive gardens and a Study Center hosting immersive art and yoga retreats.

The onsite restaurant, Pata’s Bistro offers organic farm-to-table dining, with menus created from local seasonal ingredients designed to showcase the flavors of the region. Much of the produce is grown and harvested by the farm and the restaurant also serves wines from the best Chilean wineries. A stay here is a chance to immerse yourself in the remote beauty of Patagonia, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. These include rafting, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, fly fishing, trekking, horse riding, biking, canyoning, and stargazing. Guests can also learn more about beekeeping and sheep farming at the farm.
