Rio Celeste & Volcano Hike
Witness the unearthly blue color of the Rio Celeste as you take a rainforest hike in Tenorio Volcano National Park. Geological oddities and the Rio Celeste waterfalls are additional fascinations.
During this tour, you will visit the remarkable Tenorio Volcano National Park to hike 5 miles (approximately 4 hours) through fascinating rainforest trails that wind along the wonderful blue-colored Rio Celeste. The further upriver you go, the deeper the color of the water. At Los Destiladeros, the confluence of the Buena Vista and Roble rivers, the intense color is generated as a result of the chemical blend of sulphur and carbonates from Tenorio Volcano. On the way back, stop at Las Ollas (the cooking pots), earth cavities full of boiling clay, and the impressive Rio Celeste Waterfall. The final reward is an exquisite Costa Rican lunch at the Rio Celeste Hideaway Hotel's private lounge.
