De Hoop Nature Reserve is one of South Africa's best kept secrets, this 34,000-hectare reserve is just over 3-hours drive from Cape Town and offers some incredible scenery from fynbos and beach to wetlands and sand dunes which roll into the Indian Ocean. The property itself will have a prime location set just back from the beach with all seven rooms facing towards the sparkling ocean for unbeatable views. With a guaranteed two-night stay, guests will arrive and leave from Lekkerwater Beach Lodge on the same day to experience the lodge together.
With just seven rooms in total, Lekkerwater Beach Lodge will be an intimate and cosy lodge to provide guests with a comfortable stay and is ideally located to explore all the reserve has to offer. Natural Selection are well known for building and maintaining lodges that are eco-conscious, and Lekkerwater is no different. The lodge has been built on the land that was once used for FW De Klerk's retreat and generates electricity through solar and wind power, along with the use of grey water treatment and a zero single-use plastic policy.
Lekkerwater's prime location along the South African coast means it is the perfect spot to visit from July to November for a spot of land-based whale watching. These magnificent animals migrate and birth along the south coast of South Africa and can often be seen from land. Aside from whale watching, De Hoop is perfect for nature-lovers with a wealth of outdoor activities to enjoy throughout.
